1963 Chevrolet Corvette Bunkie Knudsen Convertible Fawn
Fawn w/White interior and soft top.
General Motors built a very sharp '63 Sting Ray Convertible specifically for the New York Auto Show and incorporated various design concepts conceived at the GM Design Center. such as unique interior appointments, chrome-plated side exhaust/header combination that exited through the front fenders. The car's origins reached back to the '59 Sting Ray Racer inspired XP-7545 concept, designed by Larry Shinoda. The car was a huge hit not only with the general public, but also with the GM brass! Most notably Chevrolet Division General Manager Semon "Bunkie" Knudsen. So much so, that he arranged for Chevrolet Engineering to build a copy for his personal use. And what you see presented here is the result of that effort!
