1971 yellow corvette ls6 6

Sunflower Yellow Corvette with Black interior, 454/425hp, 4-spd. manual transmission.

If you were in the market for the ultimate Corvette in ’71, you needed to look no further than RPO LS6. Checking this $1,221 option on your order form gave you cast iron 454ci big block engine with aluminum heads, 850cfm Holley carb, A.I.R. smog pump, bolted up to either an M-22 close ratio “rock crusher” 4-spd. manual transmission or M40 3-spd. automatic.

This engine produced 425hp and was second only to the L88 as the most powerful engine ever offered in a Corvette up to that point! Developed by Zora Arkus-Duntov and his team, the plan was to design an engine for racing. But only 188 production versions were offered. Making it one of the rarest engines. Even rarer than an L88 and almost as powerful!
