Venetian Red w/Beige coves and Red interior, 265/225hp, 3-spd. manual transmission.
The ’56 Corvettes were a drastic departure from the ’53-’55 models in that they offered roll-up windows as standard equipment for the first time. In so doing, the Corvette went from being a Roadster to being a true Convertible. There were other changes (for the good) as well, like outside door handles and the first appearance of the iconic “coves” on the side of the car. This design feature would continue throughout the rest of the C1’s model run.
As for the drivetrain, a new V8 was offered in ’56. Checking off RPO469 on your order form got you a 265ci small block V8 with dual 4bbl carbs and 225hp. “Dual 4’s” became a popular option in the Corvette engine line-up through ’61, but the first Corvette you could get it on was a ’56.
This stunning ’56 has undergone a complete, nut and bolt frame off restoration and has received an N.C.R.S. Duntov award in the process!
