1968 Red Chevrolet Custom Pickup truck – Viper Red w/Black interior. 376/375rwhp, 4-spd automatic transmission.
Chevrolet hit it out of the park when introduced their newly redesigned pick-up line in ’68! These trucks were and are still considered some of the nicest to come out of Detroit! They’ve aged like fine wine.
This show-stopping ’68 was the recipient of a no-expense-spared custom restoration that was completed about 3 years ago. It features a Corvette LS1 small-block bolted to a 4L70E 4-spd. automatic and a narrowed Ford 9″ rear end. The suspension was built by J-Rod Customs and features Ride Tech components.
When the decision is made to turn a stock vehicle into a rest-mod, sometimes the hardest part is using restraint. We’ve all seen pieces of rolling automotive sculpture. Their over the top paint jobs, supplest of leather upholstery and all manner of exotic bits and pieces. None of that applies to this ’68 short bed. No over the top tri-color flames or two-tone color schemes here. Just an eye-searing Viper Red exterior with an elegant teak wood bed, and a nicely done, but understated Black vinyl interior which features power windows with trick switch/handles and a $20k custom audio system featuring twin JL Audio amps under the seats and a 13″ JL Audio Sub-Woofer in the back. The wheels are made by US. and are wrapped in special order Red line tires.
But, as beautiful and as this classic pick-up is, it’s no trailer queen! It was built to drive! And that’s exactly what you should do with it!
