Corvette Mike’s Decorated 1967 Corvette L89 Coupe Sells for $1.7 Million

Mike’s Marina Blue L89 Coupe is an exceptional piece of Corvette history. Assembled on the final day of 1967 Corvette production, it is one of only two L89s ever equipped with K19 smog equipment, a mandatory feature for California. This rare gem also boasts F41 suspension, an M21 4-speed manual transmission, N14 side-mounted exhaust, K66 transistor ignition, and J50 power brakes—a configuration built for both performance and precision.
After passing through several owners, the car became part of Larry Martin’s collection in 1994, which is when Mike first set his sights on it. After a 30-year pursuit, he finally acquired the L89 in 2023.
Determined to restore it to its full glory, Mike spent a year meticulously preparing the car for judging. In 2024, he proudly presented his Marina Blue 1967 Corvette L89 Coupe at the NCRS National Convention in Hampton, Virginia. As one of just 16 L89s ever built, the car underwent a rigorous evaluation of its exterior, interior, and mechanical condition—and it didn’t disappoint. Scoring an outstanding 99.08, it earned the prestigious Duntov Mark of Excellence, a true testament to its authenticity and quality.
In 2025, the Corvette L89 Coupe was offered at Mecum Kissimmee on Friday, January 17th. The hammer fell at an astonishing $1,705,000 (including buyer’s fee), making it the highest-priced Corvette sold during the 13-day event. This follows Corvette Mike’s previous Sunfire Yellow 1967 L88, which sold post-auction for $2,250,000.
A true masterpiece of Corvette history, this L89 Coupe stands as one of the most desirable and rarest big-block Corvettes ever produced—a car that was worth the wait.

Bob J.’s 1988 1-Owner Mercedes-Benz 560SLMy name is Bob and I’m 90 plus years young. Here is my ’88 560SL that I bought 34 years ago and I am the only owner of this car. It only has a bit over 47k miles on the old odometer as for the most part, this car has been my date night and weekend driver.I’ve always been a Corvette fan and my intention was to put a brand new ’88 Corvette Convertible in my garage. The problem was, that getting in and out of it was a bit difficult for me and my wife. So, after looking at a few other sports cars, including a Ferrari 328, I wandered into a local Mercedes Benz dealer and fell in love with the Signal Red SL they had on the lot, and my wife loved it also, so I bought it.Bob J.
