I recently subscribed to your blog and wanted to share my Corvette story. I’m 70 years old and bought my first Corvette at 63—a 1997 C5 Red Coupe with black interior. I was hooked. That led to a 2007 Silver C6, and eventually, I test-drove a C7 Grand Sport and knew I had to have one. I searched through hundreds of listings for the perfect Silver Grand Sport with a silver or two-tone interior. After months of searching, my wife and I finally found a 2LT with a black/silver interior and chrome wheels listed by a dealer in Paris, KY. Funny enough, when we arrived, we discovered the car wasn’t Silver—it was Sterling Blue Metallic, a rare 2017-only color with just 304 Grand Sport Coupes made in that shade. I traded in my C6 and took it home on July 14, 2019. Since then, I’ve customized it with a Z06 splitter, rockers, chrome accents, Grand Sport logo accessories, and even an airbrushed bull elephant under the hood. In 2021, it won Best Color and Color Combination Interior at the National Corvette Museum. It’s a show car now, and I take it to Carlisle and plan to return to the NCM for the 30th Anniversary. This Corvette isn’t going anywhere—my grandson already has his eye on it! Thanks for letting me share my story. |
