1964 Tuxedo Black Corvette Fuel Injected "Tanker" Coupe
Extremely rare example with only 13k original miles!Tuxedo Black w/Silver interior, 327/375hp fuel injected, 4-speed manual transmission.
When the 1963 Corvette was introduced, it was a revelation in the sports car world! Both here in the states and in Europe! The all-new second generation Corvette offered a completely new sleek body in both Convertible and for the first time, Coupe! A new frame featuring 4-wheel independent suspension, and a great choice of engines. Everything from a (relatively) mild 327/250hp small block, all the way up to the mild 327/375hp fuelie! You could even order what was pretty much a factory race car! All you had to do was check RPO ZO6 and NO3 on your dealer order form! What you got was the top dog L84 fuel injected engine, 4-speed manual transmission, Posi-Traction rear end, heavy duty suspension, heavy duty power brakes, with sintered metallic shoes, and finned drums, and to top it off, a 36-gallon fuel tank! Only 63 of these brutes were built in this configuration in ’63.
So, what does this have to do with our ’64 featured here you ask? Well, the ZO6 option was technically only offered in ’63. But if you knew what boxes to check in ’64, you could build your own “ZO6”! And that’s exactly what the original owner of this extremely rare example did! Looking beyond the mechanicals of this car, you will see the ultra-rare color combination of Tuxedo Black with a Silver interior! This is about as perfect a color combo that you could chose for a Corvette like this one!
A ’64 in this configuration is an even rarer bird than a ’63! And this particular ’64 is likely the rarest in captivity! More to come . . .
