The ‘63 FUELIE’ came into my possession 40 years ago and has undergone a total body-off restoration that now meets NCRS standards. Way back when the early C2’s were debuted originally, I had my eye on same. FUELIES were aplenty, but were not for the average Corvette owner due to the finicky and often problematic nature of ‘the beast’ at that time. Since the initial offering of Ramjet Fuel Injection in 1957, it wasn’t for everyone’s choice on a build sheet order, however as knowledgeable people surfaced as rebuilders, the state-of-the-art mechanical fuel injection flourished and produced a highly sought after option until the C2 Corvette build year 1965.
My early Sebring Silver Vette was built with a 327FI block, 4-speed synchro trans coupled to a 4:11 posi-rear that lifts the nose considerably whenever I demand power off-the-line.
Through the years, the hobby of ownership has given me many awards and REWARDS with the camaraderie of many in the ‘world of Corvettes’.
