Admiral Blue w/Black interior, 350/330hp LT-4, 6-spd manual transmission.
The ’96 model marked the swan song for the C4 Corvette after a 12 year run. And it was a good run! Introduced in ’84, the C4 went through many changes during it’s time in the spotlight. One of the many significant one’s was of course the introduction of the ZR-1. With its, 32 valve LT-5 V-8, it was the most advanced and exotic Corvette built up to that point and remains the only twin cam engine’d Corvette ever built! Corvette was looking to do something special to give the C4 a proper send off. But, since production of the ZR-1 had ended a year before in ’95, a special model was in order to commemorate the end of the line. So, it was decided that the Grand Sport moniker was [...]
Bright Red w/Black interior, 350/375hp, 6-spd manual transmission.
The ZR-1 was and is considered one of the high water marks in Corvette engineering and development. The car set a multitude of records on the track and on the street. Some of which still stand today! The first Corvettes with RPO ZR1, called the ZR-1 (with dash), were produced from 1970-1972 (same as the LT-1’s). To get the ZR-1 option you first had to check the box for the LT-1 motor, as no other motor option could be used. Other options that came standard with the ZR-1 package included an expansion tank, power brakes, M22 “Rock Crusher” heavy duty four-speed transmission, J56 Heavy duty power brakes, transistorized ignition, special aluminum radiator and the F41 suspension that included special springs, shocks and front and rear stabilizer bars.
The car was designed with racing in mind so you could not get amenities like air conditioning, power windows, power steering, radio, alarm system, rear window defroster, or special trim items like P02 wheel covers. Only 53 C3 ZR-1’s Corvettes were produced (25 in 1970, 8 in 1971 and 20 in 1972), [...]
