Well in 1976 Cadillac said just that, “It is the only convertible now built in America. And it will be our last. The very last.” Why? Because of the Feds of course. The looming federal 30 mph rollover test legislation was about to make the convertible go away forever. It did not help that Air Conditioning was becoming more standard, and people fell in love with the T-Tops (made even more popular by the smash hit movie Smokey and the Bandit).
It took time, but fortunately, and like always, smart American’s figured out a way to comply with the new regulations and in the 80’s the open roof convertible was back for good.

Changing up how they normally release the new information on the latest Corvette, Chevrolet has published the 2017 Corvette Guide in advance of this week’s reveal of the new model year at the National Corvette Museum’s Bash event. So there will definitely be some spoiler information discussed if you want to wait. But for those that want all the latest details for the 2017 Corvette, let’s dive in!

First things first. Chevrolet has only published information on the 2017 Stingray and Grand Sport Models. The 2017 Z06 information will apparently be made available at a later date. Chevrolet will start the Stingray and Grand Sport production in June and Z06 Corvettes will start up in early September. Numerous brands have honored the life of Prince after his sudden death yesterday, mostly by incorporating the color purple into their logos. However, one company that is forever linked to the Minnesota legend’s music offered a special tribute in this morning’s print editions of the Star Tribune and the New York Times.
Chevrolet, the maker of the classic American sports car immortalized in one of Prince’s biggest hits, “Little Red Corvette,” took out a sparse, full-page color ad in the newspapers with a play on the song’s lyrics. Check it out:
