We here at Corvette Mike are always on the hunt for great cars. Whether they be late model, low mile examples or a rare and unique vintage muscle car. We never know what might turn up or be offered to us. But, we have to admit, the rare and unique pieces are our favorites! So, we were especially stoked when this Daytona Yellow ’69 was presented to us! The ’69 is looked back on fondly and considered one of, if not the most desirable of the third generation Corvettes.

The C3 or “Shark” bodied cars were introduced a year earlier in ’68 and they were instant hits! Though almost identical to the previous generation C2’s underneath, the C3’s were all new topside! According to a witness by the name of Jason Motz, a woman driving through a Florida Walmart parking, saw her faithless, cheating husband with another young woman in his classic C1 Corvette. Assumingly filled with instant rage, the wife aimed her Ford Fusion at the C1 and pinned the throttle.

You would assume when the cars met, fiberglass would go flying, but instead, the Ford ended up on top of the Corvette. This is not to say the damage to the cars was not significant though, at least to the Corvette.

By the late ’50’s, the “Jet Age” was in full swing! Rockets were in and Detroit was determined to incorporate elements of them into their cars. Anything that represented speed or flying was cool; fins, side spears, bullet bumpers, and taillights. Even rocket hood ornaments found their way onto American passenger cars.
