From the reports we have seen since the new 2019 ZR1 was officially announced, we know it was going to be fast, but not this fast. Car & Driver took a brand new, off the dealer’s lot, ZR1 to The Texas Mile to see what the performance gurus in Bowling Green had produced. The results are very impressive.
It can do 0-60 in just 2.85 seconds, 0-100 takes just 6 seconds, it can run a quarter mile in just 10.6 seconds and hit a speed of 190.1mph at The Texas Mile; with more road, it should hit over 212mph! These are very impressive numbers to be sure, but for a car with a starting price of $119k, it is unheard of. It should be noted that Car & Driver took the big wing off the back to get the best time at The Texas Mile. With the wing, the ZR1 hit 180mph. All that down
They’re only building 25 of this instant classic.
We already know that Equus Automotive could build powerful cars, from the Bass 770, a muscle car mash up of the classic Mustang and Challenger, so it is no surprise that the company can blend elements of various cars into one. But for ‘Throwback,’ all of those elements come from a single model, the Corvette. They just come from different eras, as this C7 Corvette carries cues referencing earlier generations.
The 1,000-horsepower ‘Throwback’ lists for $130,000 and accelerates to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, according to Equus. The vintage-inspired bodywork is made of modern carbon fiber, for its light weight.
Top speed exceeds 225 mph, which is the kind of speed you [...]
The racing magnate bid $925,000 for the first production Corvette ZR1 at a Barrett-Jackson Auction in January.
Renowned NASCAR team owner and Chevrolet dealer Rick Hendrick visited the National Corvette Museum to lay eyes on his very own Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Hendrick outbid other heavyweight car collectors for the rights to own the first production ZR1 during the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona earlier this year.
The $925,000 Corvette ZR1 is finished in an all-black exterior, and it boasts a plethora of performance upgrades such as a carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber ground effects package, ZR1 carbon flash-painted aluminum wheels with red brake calipers, Chevy’s track performance package, and an NPP Performance exhaust system. Inside, the cabin is finished in Jet Black and Adrenaline Red with suede-wrapped competition bucket seats and red seat belts. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, Mr. Hendrick opted for the eight-speed automatic transmission, not the seven-speed manual.

In 1985, Rusty Brock was looking through some old slides his father had and was interested in one showing a young man standing next to a 1965 red Corvette Convertible. His dad, George, said it was a car he bought new and had sold in 1971.
With the help of a friend, George was able to track down the Vette and tried to buy it back a few times over the years but was never able to close the deal.
During this period, Rusty got the Corvette Bug from seeing all his dad’s pictures and hearing all the stories his dad had while owning the Vette. Rusty bought his first Corvette before he could even drive and over the years, acquired a [...]
