The Power Wagon has been around in various forms going back 60 years, but never has Dodge made one quite like this 1949 Power Wagon.
The original Dodge Power Wagon was introduced in 1945 as a civilian version of Dodge’s military WC series of trucks. Designed as a utility truck, it came standard with four-wheel drive and was powered by a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine.
This truck, however, was handed over to Legacy Classic Trucks in 2012 and turned into the ultimate rock-crawler. As such, it received a dizzying array of suspension modifications, which are all tied into the truck’s bed and roll cage. The original inline-six has been replaced with a modified Chevy LS3 V-8 that’s bolted to heavy-duty running gear. The cab has been chopped two inches, and the truck’s bed is a custom unit.
The truck’s eye-watering $80K asking price is matched [...]
They’re getting close to being finished with the repair of the Skydome at the National Corvette Museum. Zach Massey returns to get us up to speed with finishing touches leading up to the reopening of this landmark.
DETROIT — The battle between the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado is headed for a cage match.
Chevrolet is escalating the always-hot pickup wars this week with a social media campaign that takes a swipe at Ford’s aluminum-body F-150. In a commercial slated for online and possible TV play, focus group members are asked which cage they would use for refuge when a grizzly bear lumbers into the room: one made of aluminum or another made of high-strength steel. Most scurry wide-eyed to the steel cage.
For all the industry buzz leading up to the F-150 launch about Ford’s big aluminum bet, Ford’s marketing hasn’t exactly flogged that point with consumers. Now, Chevy’s tongue-in-cheek salvo brings the topic to the fore, raising the stakes — and risks — for both brands.
Chevy’s tweak could prod Ford into talking more about aluminum, a move it has shied away from so far amid reports about higher collision-repair [...]
The Team at Corvette Mike would like to wish each of you a safe, happy and healthy Fourth of July!
July 4th is a day to celebrate our freedom, specifically the freedom to govern ourselves. Even in the midst of sharp political divide, Americans have always known that July 4th is the day we celebrate our freedoms that the Founders fought and died for. Let’s take a moment during our celebrations this holiday weekend to remember those that have given their lives for our freedom throughout the history of this great country.
God Bless America!
If you can find his shop, this is the scene that greets you as you enter. Ropes and pulleys are the only things keeping that little roadster up in the air. Yes, that’s a glider hanging from the rafters. “My shop is dark and dirty. I don’t dust, I don’t clean, and you won’t find any billet crap here.” – Scott Dapron
Stepping through the tall overhead door is a little like entering an automotive time portal. My first impression of Scott Dapron’s shop is like some blue oval version of that last scene from “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Last Ark” where a worker pushes that crate carrying the Ark of the Covenant into the oblivion of a huge warehouse. Dressed in dirty jeans, plaid shirt, and a stained paper Oldsmobile hat, Scott stands just inside the big door like the gate keeper to an eclectic automotive altar. “The shop doesn’t get [...]
