There were some changes for the C5 Corvette in 2000. The most notable was the new 5-spoke wheel design. The spokes were thinner, more angular and available in a polished finish for the first time. Other changes included improved Dual Zone Climate Control, better rubber seals around the top and a revised keyless entry system.
Nassau Blue was re-introduced with the new C5 Corvette in ’97. It was always a limited production color during that period and the rarest color in ’00 with only 209 Convertibles built. This example is in very nice condition have been driven only 33k miles since new. To commemorate Chevrolet’s 100th anniversary, a special Corvette was introduced. Starting with a loaded car including F55 Magnetic Select Ride, The Centennial Edition Corvette added Carbon Flash exterior, Satin Black wheels, Ebony interior with Red stitching and micro-fiber suede accents in the seats, steering wheel, shifter and armrests. Red brake calipers, Satin Black stripe graphic on the hood and trunk, special “100th” emblems and Black fender badges for the Grand Sport were also part of the package.

When the ’65 Corvette was introduced, it was a game-changer for two reasons. One was for going; the 396 big block engine. The other for slowing; 4-wheel disc brakes! Both of these items helped further propel Corvette onto world-class sports car status!

As most Corvette aficionados know by now, the ’78 Corvette Indy Pace car is credited with starting the Corvette speculation market. The ’78 was the first Corvette to ever pace the Indy 500. So naturally, the boys at GM wanted to cook up something special for race day.
Originally, the plan was to build a very limited number of Pace Car replica’s to sell to the buying public. The initial amount was to be 300 to commemorate the ’53 Corvette’s production run. They would all have special paint, interior, and other modifications. Even the tires were going to be exclusive to the Pace Car! But after doing some calculating, the bean counters decided that some of the mods were going to be too expensive

In the lexicon of classic automobiles, the Corvette is considered by most, an icon.
