If you’ve been thinking about placing an order for the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette, then you better act fast because production for Chevrolet’s iconic sports car will be ending sooner than many people might think.
Production for 2016 Corvettes will cease as of June 24th. That means prospective buyers have until May 12th to decide whether to place their orders for either the Stingray or Z06 model. Consumers will also have fewer exterior color options as Chevrolet plans to phase out both Laguna Blue and Shark Grey.
Rick ‘Corvette’ Conti reported that production for the 2017 Corvette Stingray will also begin on June 24th, which could infer the ’17 Stingray won’t be much different than the outgoing model, since production is starting and finishing on the same day for the ’16 and ’17 Stingrays. Consumers can begin placing orders on May 26th for the ’17 Stingray.
[...]The world of tuning has its obvious trends, such as the one that sees the 2016 Camaro getting more aftermarket attention than any new vehicle from the current era. Then there are the tendencies that are a little bit more difficult to trace, but do have the potential of turning into strong trends.
The latest example of this kind seems to be the twin-charging route. After we’ve seen not one but two examples of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat going down this route (the Hellcat X and Hennessey’s 1,032 hp Hellcat), the time has now come for a Corvette to enter this arena.
We’re looking at a ZR1 Vette that has been heavily modified by the crew over at D3 Performance. The Chevy has kept its factory blower, while adding a turbocharger to offer more than double the original muscle.
The ZR1 was gifted with a [...]
Today, fuel-injection is no big deal, but 60 years ago, it was on the cutting edge of technology, as there were no computers, at least not ones small enough to fit inside a car. These were the analog days, not the digital times we live in today.
While the fine details are very complex, the system jointly developed by Zora Arkus-Duntov, John Dolza and Rochester, essentially had just three components: the air meter, the fuel meter, and the intake manifold. The air meter supplied control signals to the fuel meter; the fuel meter used air meter signal to regulate the fuel flow to the 8 injection nozzles and the intake manifold provided the distribution system for the fuel/air mixture. The end result was one of the first mass-produced engines in history to reach 1 bhp per cubic inch. Chevrolet used this achievement in [...]
