According to reports, pop artist Peter Max did not pay two New York men out of commissions on the sale of his storied Corvette collection. He is further accused of selling a New Jersey woman artwork that was “ghost painted” for him.
Jeff Wallner and Kenneth Simmons are suing Peter Max and his agent Larry Moskowitz for $1 million, claiming Max asked them to sell off his collection of 36 Corvettes in exchange for a 10 percent commission. The corvette collection was bought from the VH1 contest winner and included one Corvette from each year between 1953 and 1989.
Wallner and Simmons also helped sell Max’s famous “Statute of Liberty” painting to a collector for $500,000, but when the collector learned that the Max had not personally painted the painting, but had rather had a ghost painter paint it and just signed the finished piece, they had to give her a Marilyn Monroe [...]
Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson has previously shared his positive thoughts on the C7 Corvette Stingray, and now his peers at Top Gear Magazine have handed down the same respect to the 2015 Corvette Z06. In the publication’s new Awards issue, the Z06 has won “Muscle Car of the Year 2014”, in addition to be being named Clarkson’s personal Car of the Year for 2014.
When Top Gear drove the Z06, they claimed “go to the outer edge of your personal comfort zone, and the Z06 will meet you there. It’ll trade blows with the best that AMG, BMW, Ferrari or Porsche has to offer, on the trickiest tracks in the world. It’ll make you feel like a million dollars, but costs a fraction of that. America has a new hero.”
Clarkson’s conclusion was a little less heartwarming, as expected, but he still picked it as his favorite new car of 2014, which speaks [...]
Those lucky individuals impatiently awaiting the arrival of their 2015 Corvette Z06 will be delighted to hear Chevrolet officially begun to ship the first examples of the 650 horsepower supercar today, just in time for the start of the Christmas season.
The first run of Corvette Z06s will all be coupes equipped with the seven-speed manual transmission. The convertibles will follow in the next month or two and eventually the eight-speed automatic models. Chevrolet says it has already received 5,600 orders for the car, and that’s just for manual Z06 coupes. Automatic Corvettes have historically sold in greater numbers, meaning the waiting list for the Z06 may be even longer than the standard C7 Stingray’s.
The Team at Corvette Mike and Corvette Mike Midwest would like to wish you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving.
Here are some pictures of the 2014 Blue Corvette Z06 from the LA auto show; only because we know you can never see enough pictures of this car.
