It has been recently reported that a test C8 made a calculated 656 hp. The problem is that the math does not add up.
Motor Trend dyno’d a pre-production 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Z51 at 558 horsepower and 515 pound-feet of torque on the wheels. This, the magazine estimated, translates to 656 hp and 606 lb-ft of torque at the crankshaft, well over the number Chevrolet gave of, a SAE-certified, 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.
The problem with the Dyno numbers are #1 the test car performed exactly as the math said it would [...]
Well, the media blackout on the 2020 C8 Corvette has been lifted and the reviews are coming in.
Car and Driver decided the best way to tell people about the new C8 was to compare it directly with the outgoing C7. GM was happy to provide them with two comparable cars, the C8 with Z51 and 3LT trim along with a 2019 C7 with Z51 and also in 3LT trim. Both cars also came with adaptive dampers, and eight-speed automatics. Both had additional wheel camber dialed in as recommended in their owner’s manuals for track use and came with Corvette-developed Michelin summer tires.
According to pure engineering theory, and with all other things being equal, a mid-engine car’s superior weight distribution should enable it to lap a racetrack quicker than a [...]
We are over 3 weeks into the GM strike and according to two people familiar with GM’s production plans the automaker will have to delay the production and launch of the C8 Corvette.
When the strike started, the Bowling Green plant was in the process of finishing up the C7 production before shutting down for two weeks to retool for the C8 production, which GM had planned to do this week. A spokesman for GM said, “As we’ve previously stated, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray production begins in late 2019 and convertible production follows in late first-quarter 2020. It’s too early to speculate on production timing impacts on any of our vehicles due to the UAW work stoppage.”
Just inChevy has an official Nurburgring lap time for the C8 Corvette, [...]

Three years ago, police near Portland, Oregon discovered a yellow C3 Corvette submerged in Willamette River near a boat ramp. The Corvette, reportedly stolen over 20 years ago, was finally dragged out of the river by a team of divers working on a river cleanup project.
One of the divers runs the YouTube channel Adventures with Purpose and documented what it takes to raise a car out of the water after 20 years of silt, sand and debris have accumulated in it. The sheriff’s department originally tried to raise the C3 but gave up as the tow truck just ended ripping pieces of the decrepit ‘Vette off when they tried to drag it out.
Using air bladders and chains, they’re able to lift the Corvette up enough to turn it toward [...]
