The internet has made it easy for people to get information quickly, but sometimes too quickly or unchecked.
Last Thursday, a Pennsylvania dealer selling, a 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, advertised it as once being owned by the famous NASCAR racer Dale Earnhardt Jr. Shortly after the ZR1 was posted, a tweet from Earnhardt himself said “buyer beware” and “Not my car. Never drove it. Never did it once spend a minute in my driveway.”
As soon as people read Earnhart Jr.’s tweet, and before the dealer could respond, the internet went crazy. The dealer was flooded with $1 offers, angry phone calls, and even death threats (we love our Corvette’s, but death threats is a bit over the top). eBay also got thousands of people flagging the listing as false, so eBay removed the listing and suspended the dealers account (pulling all the other cars they had listed in the process).

It’s either the coolest car ever produced, or the unofficial emblem of the American midlife crisis. Or both. Either way this week in 1953 the first Chevrolet Corvette rolled off the assembly line in Flint, Michigan.
If you were lucky enough to own one, still have it and it’s in tip-top shape, that year’s Corvette is worth more than $130,000. Years later Chevrolet introduced the iconic Sting Ray.

And there is no shortage of car clubs devoted to the Corvette, including the Central Oklahoma Corvette Club in Oklahoma City.
Today, Corvettes are still popular. Chevrolet made more than 40,000 in 2016. The current MSRP is [...]
Corvette Racing’s Jordan Taylor says that despite the disappointment of slipping from the GTE-Pro class lead to third in the final lap of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the American team has plenty to be proud of, in the come-from-behind run for the No. 63 car.
Taylor was in the car for a frantic final stint that saw the Corvette C7.R locked in a fierce duel with Jonny Adam in the 97 Aston Martin Vantage GTE that saw the British marque get the better of their American rivals in a race that conjured images of the brands’ GT1 duels a decade ago.
After being caught out by two of the safety car periods earlier in the race, the Pratt & Miller squad used a combination of strategy, pit work, and strong pace to jump ahead of the Aston Martin when Taylor got in the car for the final stint, setting up the dramatic dash to [...]
