Jamie Fletcher decided to finish what her late father had started in 1974, the restoration of his 1960 Corvette Fuelie; he was never able to finish due to health issues and passed in 2008.
“Alright dad, I’ve lost my mind, I’m going to do this, let’s do this,” said Jamie. “This is something that has been chewing at me my entire life.”
After using up most of her savings, a yearlong restoration, lead by Dan Lardinois of West De Pere, Wisconsin, the car now looks identical to how it looked when her mother and father owned it 40 years ago. It was completed just in time for this year’s past Father’s Day car show, where it was bestowed numerous awards.
“I know my dad’s up there smiling down,” said Jamie.
These last few days have produced a ton of new rumors about the new Mid-Engine C8 Corvette. First, the mid-2019 Chevy Corvette was caught on film during covert testing in Michigan. This was the first time it was captured it with a clear view of what appears to be an engine mounted amidships.
Second, it will only come with a Tremec TR-9007 Seven-Speed Dual-Clutch Automatic Transmission; no manual transmission will be available. There is another rumor that it will come with the new 10-Speed automatic being co-developed by Ford and GM. We may see this 10-Speed Automatic as an option in the 2018 C7 Corvette also.
Third, the pushrod will probably be replaced by a DOHC V8.
It is still being reported that the front-engine C7 Vette will still be sold concurrently, for a few years at least, after the launch of its more exotic sibling. There may also be a ZR1 high-performance front-engine C7 [...]
