Corvette Assembly Plant Shipping Backlog

At first glance, it looked like a snowy landscape, but it turns out those are brand-new Corvettes cloaked in their shipping covers, all set for delivery to dealerships for customers. It seems like Jack Cooper Transport might be struggling to keep pace. As we welcome March, it’s an opportune moment to review some production insights and assess our current status. For these discussions, we refer to Roger Kiel’s Unofficial Production Estimate. Early in the month, the plant ran some overtime shifts, and just this past week, production exceeded 200 units on several days. The E-Rays are on an upward trajectory, with 30 units produced during the week of February 19th, though this week saw a dip to 15 units through Thursday. While many of us are eager to see E-Ray production ramp up, it seems more time is needed before significant numbers are achieved. On the topic of production volumes, analyzing the starting and ending VINs from Roger’s report reveals a total of 4,186 new Corvettes assembled in February. Michael P’s 1979 & 2010

When I was 25 years old in 1980, I bought my first Corvette. 1979 Black/Oyster interior L48. Was $10,300! My dream car…when my mom saw it, and this is a quote, “you paid $10k for 2 seats??? When we bought our house in 1954 it was $11k!!” I kept that car for 18 months, sold it for more than I paid for it. Thinking no problem, I’ll get another. Well Marriage, Kids, mortgage, college, and life. My mom passed away a few years ago and left a few dollars for the family. So in 2020, 40 years later, in her honor I went and bought a 2010 Grand Sport. I still hear her yelling at me from the grave.
