San Marino Motor Clasic 2025 3
Here is a great item for Father’s Day!
Peter Brock, the renowned automotive designer and author, had been captivated by cars from a young age. His fascination with design and aerodynamics led him to join General Motors in the ’50s, where he found himself at the forefront of automotive innovation. The Sting Ray project was a turning point, a canvas where he could blend artistry with engineering.
The genesis of the Sting Ray wasn’t just about crafting a car; it was about challenging conventions. During the Wynn Concours, Mike met up with Peter and reminisced about the bold decisions—the split rear window, the iconic side vents, and the streamlined silhouette that made the Sting Ray instantly recognizable.
As Peter went through his book with Mike, a sense of pride washed over him. The Sting Ray isn’t just a car but a legacy—a testament to innovation and the pursuit of greatness. It had left an indelible mark on automotive history, a legacy that continues to inspire generations of enthusiasts.
Exclusive to Thundering Thursday readers, we’re offering Peter’s book at a low price of $40 per book plus shipping and handling of $14.85.

Gary L.’s Award Winning 1963 Split Window Coupe
My ’63 Corvette Dream Come True.
Since I was born in Detroit and both my parents worked for GM, I’ve had a lifelong love of cars. When the 1963 Split Window Coupe was released, I was 13—and I was mesmerized. The split rear window, the flip-up headlights, the aircraft-style interior—it was like nothing I had ever seen. My neighbor had one, and I’d join the other neighborhood kids just to stare at it and dream.
Fast forward, and 12 years ago, Corvette Mike made that dream a reality. I had been looking for a fuel-injected Split Window for over a year when Mike found an incredible example in Pennsylvania. After a Corvette concours judge confirmed it was near perfect with all matching numbers, I bought it—and fell in love all over again when it arrived in California.
Since then, I’ve driven the car often, and it’s never let me down. It’s taken Best Car at the Petersen Museum’s Corvette Day and just last week, won Best of Show at the Benedict Castle Concours in Riverside.
In short, Corvette Mike made my dream come true. I’m grateful to work with someone so honest, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about Corvettes.
