What It Is: A heavily camouflaged seventh-generation Chevrolet Corvette that we believe to be the next generation of Z06 high-performance models, which will be called Z07. The Corvette has used such an RPO three times in the past—first as an off-road suspension and brake package from 1973–1975; then in 1991–1995 to designate an adjustable-suspension package; and again from 2011–2013 as a package that included magnetic selective ride control, stickier rubber, lighter wheels, aero updates, beefed up cooling, and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes—and, considering the publicity the seventh generation of Corvette has going for it, the “Z07” moniker would make some sense. It’s also the next Vette in the hopper, after the convertible and targa models start rolling off production lines.

DETROIT —General Motors is recalling 1,939 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray cars in the U.S. with the FE1 or FE3 suspension to repair a possible insufficient weld in the rear shocks that could lead to a fracture and/or reduce the shocks’ service life, the automaker said on Friday.
Chevrolet dealers will replace the two rear shock absorbers.
GM said it is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to the recall.
Thirty-three additional vehicles were sold in Canada and another 82 were exported.
No information about the recall was posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle recalls in the U.S.
But the agency posted a stop delivery order on the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with the FE1 or FE3 suspension. A total of five vehicles are involved in that order.
The affected cars must be held and not delivered to customers, dealer traded or used for demonstration [...]

Back in 1990 Bloomington Gold introduced their SURVIVOR award for original, unrestored Corvettes. Award winners would need to be 20 years old, complete a short road test, and be at least 50% unrestored in 3 of 4 categories. Now, as we count down to the 2014 show, they’ve announced some sweeping changes to their SURVIVOR judging program.
SURVIVOR Corvettes are those that have remained largely original since new. They can be used as a guide by others restoring similar cars. As the SURVIVOR mantra goes, they’re “Worn in, but not worn out.” They are historically significant and shouldn’t be restored.
The new SURVIVOR award measures a car’s originality in Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels similar to Certification judging. SURVIVOR GOLD award winners are 80% or more unrestored in all four sections [...]
