Widow finds new hobby
LAFAYETTE — Patricia Metz became a widow several years ago and discovered just how much a rock her husband had been for her.
Rather than drowning herself in sorrow, she decided to find a hobby to help take up some of her time. She came across that hobby when she spotted an advertisement for a 1980 Corvette for sale in Huber Heights a little over four years ago.
“We had owned a 1979 Corvette L82,” Metz said. “So I went looking for one. They are very hard to find.”
Metz never did find the 1979 she was looking for, but she found the next best thing with the 1980 version. She drove down to check the car out.
“It looked nice and it was really clean,” Metz said. “I looked at another one in Indiana but it was in bad shape. I liked the interior on this one with the white on white and it already had all the moldings.”
Metz admits it is still hard without her husband. However, she said her new hobby of traveling to car shows has helped take some of the edge off.
“I get to meet people during the summer,” Metz said. “I go to Happy Daz for the cruise ins every Wednesday and I go to a car show abut every other weekend or so. I like to take the car for drives on nice days especially in the summer.”
Metz said the car and traveling to the shows have gave her a chance to make friends.
“I have met a lot of people,” Metz said.
