2020 PCOTY field and the C8 as the winner

Great news! According to Corvette Blogger, the 2023 Corvette Z06 is being tested by Road and Track for its annual Performance Car of the Year (PCOTY) award! We do not have a list of the other contenders in this year’s lineup, but you can be assured that the C8 Z06 will do extremely well, especially if they take the cost into account.

In the past, the PCOTY was held in October, over four days, 700 miles, and countless arguments to determine the best sports car. Road & Track editors and invited Track Club members comprise the testing. The winner isn’t based solely on raw performance data; gut instinct plays a role as it is the intangibles that matter. Is it the best version the manufacturer could make? Is it worthy of the title? Most importantly, does it excite the reviewers?

We are eager for the embargo on journalists, YouTubers, and others’ first “driving impressions” to be lifted.  Several auto journalists will be checking out the Z06 at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex this week as some YouTubers already got the Z06. The magazines received a press car to test at their own chosen tracks. Look for these reviews to hit the internet on October 3rd.

Rick F. and his 2017 show car

I just subscribed to your weekly blog and read about sending info in about my car – I am 70 yrs old and bought my first corvette when I was 63 yrs old-it was a C5 97 Red Coupe auto trans w/black interior -I knew then I was hooked – I ended up trading it on a C6 2007 Silver Coupe auto trans w/titanium interior – I couldn’t resist test driving a C7 Grand Sport that totally hooked me -what a ride – I began my journey to find a Silver C7 w/silver interior or two tone interior – my journey led me thru looking at cars online with every site I could find probably 3-400 cars with no luck -but- fortunately my wife was on board to find one, a Silver 2LT with two tone Blk/silver interior -chrome wheels – that was all I was wanting – we called and the dealer in Paris Ky who had just listed it two days before – Unique story about the car – The owner had passed and his wife sold it to a friend that had the dealership but it was a Classic Car Dealership so all he was wanting to do was sell it thru the online Wholesale Dealer Site -but no one would give him what he thought was a fair price -So- he told his grandson that works there to put it on the internet – after a 3-4 days of negotiations we came to a deal with me trading my 2007 for the Grand Sport July 14 2019 – when we arrived to get the car we realized it was not Silver but Sterling Blue Metallic which turns out to be a rare color only used in 2017 and discontinued -it is 1 of 304 Grand Sport Coupes and they did only 98 Convertibles. I proceeded after buying it to put the ZO6 Splitter and Rockers on it and had the custom paint work (Sterling Blue) done on the Engine – I also added some special things like chrome knobs and ac vent rims on the dash – GS Logo console lid -GS logo mats -Chrome Bezels on the taillights -Blk Stinger decal on center of hood – an airbrushed Bull Elephant under the hood on the insulator and more – I guess by now you have figured out I show this car at every opportunity I get -with a proud award from the National Corvette Museum in 2021 for the Best Color and Color Combination Interior. I don’t plan on ever selling the car since I have a grandson that is waiting to own it someday. There’s nothing more fun than driving a Corvette. We take it to Carlisle each year and plan to go back to the NCM definitely in 2024 for 30th Anniversary celebration. Thank you for the opportunity to send you my story and car info.

Rick F.

some random thoughts
I wish I were dumber so I could be more certain about my opinions. It looks fun.
When I hear somebody sigh, ‘Life is hard,’ I am always tempted to ask, ‘Compared to what?’
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There’s no point in being a damn fool about it.
