It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a true automotive visionary, Reeves Callaway, on July 11th. A pioneering force in the automotive industry, Reeves’ tireless pursuit of excellence, innovation, and passion for high-performance vehicles has left an indelible mark on the world.
Born in November 1947, Reeves’ journey began with an unyielding fascination for automobiles and their untapped potential. Founding Callaway Cars, Inc. from his garage in Old Lyme, Connecticut in 1977, a company that would ultimately revolutionize the automotive landscape. His engineering prowess and unwavering commitment to perfection led to the creation of some of the most iconic and sought-after performance vehicles ever produced.

Born with a natural curiosity and an insatiable desire to tinker, Reeves Callaway had always been captivated by the inner workings of machines. As a child, he would spend countless hours in his family’s garage, taking apart old engines and putting them back together again, always seeking to understand their inner workings.
As Reeves grew older, his passion for cars only intensified. He studied mechanical engineering, honing his skills and expanding his knowledge. But Reeves was not content with just studying the theories; he wanted to make a real impact on the automotive world. In 1977, Reeves founded Callaway Cars, a company dedicated to creating high-performance vehicles that would leave enthusiasts in awe. It was with Callaway Cars that he truly made his mark. Reeves had an uncanny ability to extract incredible power and performance from engines, and his creations soon caught the attention of car enthusiasts around the world.

The Corvette and many of its devoted fans partied Thursday night like it was 1953, the year GM introduced the iconic sports car.
Nearly 300 people crowded into the Skydome of the National Corvette Museum, which used the birthday bash to kick off its new “An American Love Affair” exhibit that celebrates the car’s seven decades.
Held the evening before the 70th anniversary of the day the first Corvette rolled off the assembly line in Flint, Mich., the celebration showcased a collection of some five dozen vintage Corvettes that trace the evolution of the sports car from that 1953 model to the brand-new hybrid E-Ray that goes into production later this year.
The theme is accentuated in the eight-minute video displayed on the new $800,000 “Skywall” wrap-around video screen in the museum’s Skydome.
