SALISBURY, MD — John Fitch lived through flying a P-51 fighter plane in World War II and a post-war career in automobile racing to die peacefully in his bed at age 95 at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday. He was surrounded by family and friends at the end, at home in Lime Rock only a stone’s throw from Lime Rock Park race track.

There was an entirely different kind of vehicle being featured at the National Corvette Museum today.

With Veterans Day coming up, the museum is hosting an event entitled Vets ‘N Vettes to honor those who have served.

“It’s focused on veterans and Corvettes. You don’t have to be a veteran to come and you don’t have to own a Corvette to come,” said National Corvette Museum Marketing Manager Katie Frassinelli.

Military men and women showed up with several types of vehicles to show to the public.

“We’re out here basically to show our support for the veterans. Display what we do and how they system works and answer any questions,” said Kentucky National Guard Staff Sergeant Joshua Page.

At the Corvette Museum, people can actually get a first hand look at these brand new military vehicles.

They can even get into the vehicles.

2012 is turning out to be another great year for Chevrolet… and 2013 promises to be even bigger. We’ll be launching 13 new models next year — including the all-new Silverado and Impala.

It all starts January 13th when we introduce the next generation Corvette in Detroit.

All I can tell you right now is that the new Corvette will offer an entirely new driving experience – one that’s refined, and redefined. There are just a handful of engineers authorized to drive the Corvette test vehicles on our proving grounds . And you can tell right away which ones they are – [...]
