Corvette Forum has scored three coups in the past month concerning Chevrolet’s next-generation sports car. The latest leak is a CAD drawing of a longitudinal, DOHC, twin-turbo V8 that could be one of the three rumored powerplants sliding into the mid-engine ‘Vette’s engine bay. In an earlier leak, a detail showing the V8’s turbocharger came labeled as “Gen6 LT7,” leading sleuths to believe this is the sixth-generation of GM’s small-block V8 architecture, dubbed LT7.

As gearhead tweeter Bozi Tatarevic pointed out, the illustrated V8 drawing shares cues with the 3.0-liter, TT V6 LGW engine used in the Cadillac CT6, such as turbocharger placement and belt configuration. The turbos hang on the sides of the engine instead of lying in the V between the cylinder banks, with plumbing running from the turbos up to water-to-air intercoolers atop the banks. That feature is, again, the same as on the Cadillac TT V6. Also of note, it appears

Last Thursday I sent you news about the future of autonomous Corvettes. This included an interview with Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter. We forgot to give credit to the hard work of GM Authority in getting this interview. You can see their full story here.

Want a 220 mph Plug-In Vette?
Well, Genovation Cars is about to show one off at the CES trade show in Las Vegas. It is based off the C7 Grand Sport and has a range of about 130 miles and can achieve speeds over 220 mph. It comes with twin electric motors that can deliver 800 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. The car can also jump from a standstill to 60 mph within three seconds. You can see a video of this car here.

Well, GM has accidently released a cad drawing of one of the motors for the new C8 Mid-Engine Corvette. The Cad images, posted

There is a lot of talk about cars driving themselves, but don’t count on your Mid-Engined Vette being one of these.

In a recent interview by GM Authority with Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter, in LA last month, he did not say the Vette will not be able to drive itself at some point, but he did say it will be one of GM’s last cars to incorporate such a system. Since Porsche has hinted at a possible Mark Webber self-driving mode specifically for the track, people are asking about the Vette having some sort of system in the future.

“The whole purpose of the Corvette is to enjoy driving it,” said Juechter. “So, (Corvette) will probably be the last to adopt the autonomous technologies. In fact, we don’t even have adaptive cruise on the car… we try to lean down the content to just what’s necessary for driving, and we expect the person driving

consumer reports most satisfying carsThe sharp-edged Corvette has abundant power from its 455-hp, 6.2-liter V8 and an interior worthy of the price. A seven-speed manual is standard, with an eight-speed automatic optional. Drivers with a thirst for more power can opt for the 650-hp Z06. The car’s all-aluminum construction optimizes weight savings and strength. Whether in coupe or convertible form, acceleration is blisteringly quick and handling is pinpoint. With the adjustable driving modes the car can be a fairly refined cruiser or track-ready race car. The seats deliver support and comfort. But you can’t ignore the low-slung cabin, which requires almost acrobatic skills to access; the vague manual shifter; and the omnipresent tire noise. The 460-hp Grand Sport version adds a number of the Z06’s aerodynamic components.

movie star corvettes

For a lot of us, our first introduction with Corvettes was on the big screen. The Corvette has been the star in at least 25 movies. Who can forget the 1959 Corvette coming out of the space shuttle in the 1981 movie Heavy Metal, or Mark Hamill building a super custom 1973 in his high school shop class in the 1978 movie Corvette Summer.

Here is a list of some of the Corvette Mike team’s favorites:
