Chevrolet Corvette Z06 vs Mercedes-AMG GT R

If you read the car magazines, you will see article after article about how good the German cars are and how fast they are. The Chevrolet Corvette does get good press but is still under appreciated.

Well here is more proof that a Chevrolet Corvette can hold its own on any track and against all comers; foreign and domestic.

To prove this once more, the folks at Sport Auto have pitted a C7 Z06 against a 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R in a split screen video. To help the Mercedes out, they handicapped the Corvette with a manual transmission, but even this did not keep the Z06 from triumph.

For those of you that don’t know about the GT R, it costs $157,000 (base price without options), is a front engine, two-seater, dual-clutch automatic transmission, active rear steering, 4L AMG twin-turbo V-8 (577hp & 520lb-ft) and active aerodynamics that can lower the car 1.6 inches.
