The C8 is a very versatile automobile. It is just as good at driving to the grocery market as it is doing a full track day. But one thing it could improve at is driving on soft sand!
The incident occurred at Pismo Beach on California’s Central Coast. It’s the only coastal beach in California to be legally driven on, making it a popular spot for weekend getaways. Typically, folks drive 4×4 trucks, quads, and motorcycles onto the sand, but one person thought it wise to drive their Corvette near the waterline and get thoroughly stuck.
The video shows the Corvette stuck to its frame, its rear wheels spinning helplessly. A crowd gathered around, trying to free it from the rising tide. In the video, it looked dire for the ‘Vette, with the tide licking the passenger side of the car. But not all was lost, as a commenter stated that the car was pulled out before things got terminal.

Gents…loving my 1970 DAYTONA YELLOW Corvette from you all….but must admit the color took me awhile to get use too! And I had to insist Gail (wife) STOP calling it “Butter Cup”! The reason I am so jazzed about my new Corvette is because it reminds me in some ways of my 69…bought the 69 in Toledo, Ohio with 2800 miles (a demo) for $3,850 plus tax and license …$4,100. The lady at the Credit Union lent me the entire amount …she “took pity on me “as I was going into the USAF very shortly and she figured I would be a good risk…And she knew where to find me! I originally was assigned to March Air Force Base, Riverside, Ca., and then to Wiesbaden, Germany. I shipped the Corvette to Hamburg, Germany in early 1972, and my wife and I drove it throughout Europe for 4 fabulous years… loved the autobahn…no speed limit….very few understood the amount of horsepower, and still fewer understood the body material…” was ist das? fiberglas ?” …as they rapped their knuckles on the fiberglass!… had many offers to buy it…but decided no way…my first Corvette (girlfriend) was coming home with me!
