Gypsy Red w/Beige interior, 265/195hp, Powerglide automatic transmission.
The ’55 Corvette is widely credited with saving the marque. After the ’54 failed to capture the imagination of the buying public, Chevrolet was about ready to kill of the Corvette. But with the addition of Zora Arkus-Duntov as Corvette’s chief engineer, he pleaded with the powers that be to put a V8 under the hood of America’s Sports Car. And they agreed! This completely changed the dynamic of the car. And although only 700 examples were produced in ’55, by ’56 that number had increased to almost 3,500 units! Corvette was on its way!
This striking ’55 has been completely and meticulously frame-off restored. Corvette Mike has owned this example in the past and supervised its restoration. This is without a doubt, one of the finest examples on or off the market! It also is the recipient of the prestigious Bloomington Gold Award. A beautiful showpiece that also happens to be an outstanding driver! The ’55 is second only to the ’53 is rarity. Don’t miss your opportunity to be this one’s next caretaker!
