1962 Ermine White Corvette F.I. Convertible
The last of the C1's!Ermine White w/Red interior, 327/360hp, 4-speed manual transmission.
The last of the first! After nine years production of the 1st generation Corvette finally came to an end. During that time there were no less than 4 distinct body changes and lots of drivetrain combos offered. By ’62, the powers that be in St. Louis had taken the C1 about as far as they could. The biggest change for ’62 was the introduction of the soon-to-be legendary 327ci. small block. This engine offered more horsepower and torque than the previous 238. There were 4 to choose from that year. From, the base 250hp 327 with hydraulic lifters all the way up to the mighty 360hp 327 with fuel injection and mechanical lifters. Transmission offerings consisted of a 2-spd Powerglide automatic, 3-spd. manual and 4-spd. manual.
The very sharp ’62 offered here is equipped with the top dog #’s matching 360hp “Fuelie” engine, mated up to a Hurst-shifted 4-spd. manual transmission. The car has been nicely, frame-on restored about 10 years ago with very shiny paint in the classic combo of Ermine White w/Red interior and a newer Black vinyl soft top. The fuel injection unit has been rebuilt within the last year and a half, as have the heads. And it rides on radial tires for a much better grip on the road! This is a Corvette that you can take to Cars and Coffee on a Saturday morning, then take a leisurely (or not) ride up the coast or winding back road. Wherever you end up going, you’ll have a blast getting there in this cool ’62!
