1962 Sateen Silver Corvette Convertible
Very sharp example in a rare color combo!Sateen Silver w/Red interior, 327/340hp, 4-speed manual transmission.
Coming into its final year, the first-generation Corvette had gone through no less than four distinct design changes, ending with the ’62. This year had some interesting changes, starting with the exterior, which now was only available in solid colors, eliminating the contrasting color “coves” that were first introduced in ’56. The overall design was less “adorned”, but cleaner and a bit more modern looking. But the big news was under the hood with the introduction of the larger and more powerful 327ci small block. There were four engines available, with the top choice being the 360hp fuelie. But for those who wanted almost all the power, but without fuel injection, then choosing RPO396 got you the carbureted 327/340hp engine with mechanical lifters.
Our featured car is equipped with that engine, backed up to a 4-speed manual transmission and a Posi-Tracton rear end. The car has been beautifully frame-off restored and is resplendent in elegant Sateen Silver with Red interior. Simply stunning!
