For the choice few that had the wherewithal to buy a new 1967 Corvette back in the day, it’s doubtful most really knew the significance of their purchase. This was to be the final year of production for the second generation or “mid-years”, as the ’63-’67 models were known. And as was often the case, the last of the line turned out to be the best! But truth be told, the 1967 Corvette as we know it, wasn’t supposed to exist in the first place!

Anticipation was high for the arrival of the new third-generation Corvette Stingray aka the “Shark”. This new Corvette was originally due to be released as a 1967 model, but it wasn’t quite ready for prime time. So, the powers at GM decided that the mid-year bodied Corvette would continue for one more year. And because everyone was waiting for the new girl to arrive, many 1967’s languished in Chevrolet showrooms throughout the Country unsold. Who’d have thought!! The extra year enabled the boys at GM time to refine the C2 just enough to make what is considered the best mid-year, if not the best of the first three generation Corvettes ever built! Hindsight is indeed 20/20.

This beautiful matching numbers 1967 Rally Red L71 Corvette Convertible came of the St. Louis assembly line on March 29th of ’67 and was sold new out of Prout Chevrolet in Elyria, OH. It’s been frame off restored to a very high standard in its correct Rally Red with Red interior. And nicely documented with the original Tank Sticker and an N.C.R.S. Shipping Data Report.
This ’67 is indeed a rare example, being one of only a handful of Rally Red w/Red interior L71 Convertibles ever built. And not only is it rare, it’s also achieved the highest honors within the Corvette hobby, such as the Duntov Award and Triple Crown Award, having first won multiple N.C.R.S. Top Flights, Bloomington Gold and Chevy Vette Fest Gold Spinner (no easy feat!).

It’s also loaded with great options including; L71 427/435hp engine, M21 close ratio manual transmission, 4.11 Posi rear end, am/fm radio, N14 dual side exhaust system, J50 power brakes, power windows, tinted glass, F41 suspension, Rally wheels w/Red line tires.
