Polar White w/Blue stripes and Lucerne Blue interior. 400/345hp, 4-spd. manual transmission
The 2nd generation Pontiac Firebird arrived with much anticipation. And because of a long dock strike in ’69, much delay, mid-way through the ’70 model year. The car was all-new, as was its Camaro sibling. And the model that everyone had been waiting for; the Trans Am did not disappoint! The styling was European in flavor and beautiful from every angle. The Trans Am’s functional Ram Air “Shaker” hood scoop made its debut in ’70, as well. That feature would be a mainstay and trademark on the T/A for years to come! An “Endura” dent resistant front bumper, blacked-out grille, front and rear spoilers, wheel “spats”, side vents and special striping and badging helped to make the new T/A even more distinctive. No chrome anywhere.
The T/A featured here is indeed a sight to behold! It’s been beautifully restored and is loaded with options, including 4-spd. manual transmission, factory air conditioning, p/b (with front discs), p/s, p/w, aftermarket audio system w/satellite radio (the original radio is included with the sale) and tilt steering column and Rally II wheels wrapped in BFG T/A radials (of course). The original spare tire still resides in the trunk.
What’s currently under the hood is a Pontiac high performance crate engine. However, the original 400ci V8 is mounted to an engine stand and is also included with the sale!
Also included is a binder filled with Pontiac paperwork, P.H.S. paperwork, original owner’s manual and some restoration and service receipts. A rare ‘bird, indeed!
