How many of us have fantasized about going back in time to our favorite era of muscle car, walking into the dealership of our choice and ordering a brand new “fill in the blank”? Well, if the late ’70’s was your era, you won’t need a time machine to go back! We’ve got a ’77 that is “almost new” right here in our showroom! Somehow, this Shark has only managed to clock 1,600 miles on its odometer since it rolled out of St. Louis!
We all love a good story when it comes to the history of our Corvettes. And this Shark certainly has one!
Back in ’77, Corvettes at Twin City Chevrolet in Gas City, IN. were on an allocation system. And all of the cars were always presold. But in this particular case, they were able to order a unit for inventory for the first time. He wasn’t sure which options to get, so he enlisted the help of his stepson, who was a Corvette aficionado. It was decided that it had to be Black because that color was being offered for the first time since ’69! A Black leather interior was also chosen along with the high performance L82 engine, Air Conditioning, power windows, Cruise Control, Sport Mirrors, AM/FM Stereo, Tilt/Telescopic Steering Column, Aluminum Wheels and more!
During the time the original owner had the car, he campaigned it in numerous N.C.R.S. events, racking up multiple Top Flight Awards, culminating with the prestigious N.R.C.S. 4-Star Bowtie Award! It was at this very event where Corvette Mike first laid eyes on the ’77. He wanted to buy it then and there, but the owner was not ready to part with it. But he agreed to let Mike have first crack at it when he did finally decide to sell. well, a number of years passed, and Mike got a phone call from a friend of the owner, who had since passed away. But he had remembered Mike wanted the car and told his friend to call. They spoke, a deal was struck and the ’77 was Mike’s!
