Sundance Yellow w/Tan interior, 6.6L/220hp, 3-spd. automatic transmission.

This beautiful 1978 Trans Am is a 2-owner car.  The second owner purchased it from the original owner’s grandson in 2012.  This was an Arizona car . . . no rust.  The entire car has been gone through. And as you can see from the photos below, it’s in great shape!  It runs great, accelerates strong, handles better than new and the undercarriage is far nicer than factory, etc.

The color of Sundance Yellow (Code 51) is rare for 1978. And it’s loaded with options as well.

  • W72 (High output Pontiac 400 (220 HP), numbers matching!!!!!
  • Turbo 350 Trans (Original)
  • 3.23 rear axle with Safe-T-Trak (Rear end was fully inspected and serviced)
  • Optional custom cloth interior and color matched seat belts
  • Air (Works great, upgraded to R134a)
  • PW/PS/PDL/ Tilt
  • Cruise Control (not currently functional)
  • AM/FM Stereo (Original) and it works fine
  • Space Saver Spare with inflator
  • 15×7 Snowflake wheels
  • Hood Bird decal (optioned from factory)
  • We have all documentation from the original owner, purchase documents, maintenance records, along with PHS paperwork, Window Sticker and two Build Sheets, which were found during the restoration. It was a “frame-up” resto, intended to appear as close as possible to a rotisserie restoration.
  • Engine clean up (never rebuilt) but lots of new/ restored items, roller timing chain, water pump, oil pump, gaskets, original carb blueprinted, all new accessories, and other stuff under the hood. The engine was never removed from the car but it was lifted off the motor mounts so it could be cleaned and R/R all of the parts. A time-consuming undertaking, for sure.
  • Undercarriage, completely stripped, painted/detailed correct red oxide paint (that alone took 1 year on the owners back!)
  • All new soft suspension parts and a lot of replacement steering stuff up front
  • New exhaust, but it retains the original catalytic converter (Yes, it passes CA. smog).
  • Bilstein shocks
  • Brakes and components refurbished or replaced
  • New BFG tires
  • Trans pulled and checked, resealed and reinstalled with gentle shift kit designed to replicate the W72 factory shift kit.
  • Rear end serviced
  • Completely restored interior (headliner, seats, carpet, door panels, plastic panels, (dash is original and not cracked),
  • Good glass, some original/some replacement
  • All lights and gauges work (except for the clock)
  • New paint, and refurbished or replacement trim and rubber throughout
  • New decals/ stickers
  • This is a quality car that has been drive around town and to local shows, not a trailer queen.
  • There are no features available
