Black w/Black interior, 350/375hp Twin Cam LT-5 V8, 6-spd. manual transmission.
With the arrival of the ZR-1 in ’90, the “King of the Hill” was firmly established as the most exotic and technologically advanced Corvette ever built! The LT5 V8 that was developed as a joint venture with Chevrolet and Lotus was the first and only Twin Cam 32 valve engine ever produced for a Corvette! The car immediately started setting records on the both the road and the track. Some of which still stand and proved to be a formidable opponent of just about anything that the U.S. or Europe could toss in its path. Going into its second year of production, the ’91 ZR-1 featured a more rounded front bumper to go along with the rear bumper, as well as a body colored beltline molding to replace the Black one used in previous C4 Corvettes.
It has been said that all Corvettes are Red. Except, of course if they’re Black! I remember the very first ZR-1 that I laid my eyes on. It was a brand new ’90 that was parked right outside my front door! And it was Black! I always thought that a sinister car should be a sinister color. And the C4 ZR-1 definitely fit that description! So, I always been fond of Black ZR-1’s since that day. The example presented here, came from a collector up in the S.F. Bay area. It’s appropriately Black w/Black interior and optioned with a smoked ‘glass roof panel. It’s in excellent condition having been driven only 6k miles since it rolled out of Bowling Green! It’s a great driver and the power of the ZR-1 is undeniable! Especially with the Power Key switched to “on”!
