This is the one that firmly established Corvette as a world-class sports car! The first C5 was introduced as a ’97 model and quickly became an instant success! It was longer, wider, and lighter than the previous generation C4 and was all-new in just about every sense.
The C5 was the first Corvette to be driven by a transaxle. This helped with both weight distribution and interior space. Namely wider footwells. A welcome change to be sure! It was also a lot easier to get in and out of. The result of a new platform which featured a frame that was formed with ultra-high water pressure, making for fewer welds and a lighter and stronger structure. The engine was redesigned to be more powerful and more fuel-efficient. In back, there was a lot more storage space due to the deletion of the spare tire in favor of standard run-flats. The fifth-generation Corvette was and is a high-water mark in engineering, that just keeps getting better!
The ’97 presented here is pristine inside and out, having traveled only 14k miles since it rolled out of Bowling Green! has The exterior has been kept in beautiful shape, which isn’t easy with a Black car! And the interior still has the new car smell! It’s loaded with options, including; F45 adjustable suspension, power Sport Seats, Dual Zone a-c, Delco/Bose audio w/12 disc CD changer, fog lamps, and Lloyds’s floor mats.
