Velocity Yellow w/Ebony interior, 427/505hp, 6-spd. manual transaxle.
When the original Corvette ZO6 was introduced as ’63 model, it was really intended for racing purposes only. Although some were unleashed for street use, most were headed for the race track where they were quite successful battling Ferraris and Jaguars on tracks throughout the U.S. and Europe. So, when Chevrolet decided to revive the ZO6 for the ’01 model year, it needed to be something special! And it was. Using the Fixed Rood Coupe body form the previous year, the 2nd generation ZO6 had an engine that also used a revived moniker . . . LS6! This engine was a “hot rodded” version of the LS1 used in the base Corvette Coupe and Convert and put out 400 plus hp!
When the all new sixth generation ZO6 was introduced in ’06, Chevrolet knew they needed to really step it up, and step it up they did! This ZO6 had something under its hood that hadn’t been there since 1969 A 427ci engine! But this one was unique in many ways and different from the previous 427 in that it was a dry-sump small block! A small block packing the punch of a big block! That was 505hp worth of punch! It also featured an aluminum Hydro-formed frame for lightness and rigidity, and carbon fiber front fenders and floor, and the battery re-located to the trunk! With 0-60 times in the 3.7 second range, this was the fastest Corvette ever built up to that point!
